December 2008:
The final head for my part of the museum project. This one is supposed to be looking toward the door eagerly anticipating his interview for a job in the Lincoln administration. Now it's off to finishing the casts and final details on the bodies. Click on the thumbnails pics below for a new window with larger images.

November 2008:
Here's the latest head for the museum job. As the last guy was fairly ugly and cartoony, I wanted to contrast with a dashingly handsome, realistic charactor. The full figure will be holding a pocket watch in his left hand, which he is looking down at. Click on the image for a new window with a larger view. Only one more to go.

Crypticon went well this year. In addition to plugging my DVD and displaying masks and props, I tried something new and attempted to sculpt a new creature bust during the show. Took a while, and it kind of made it hard to talk with people, but it started to come "alive" Sunday afternoon. I think that I may actually finish it sometime this Winter.

Pictured: the MonsterCloset table, with special guest Mike Etoll doing zombie caricatures for the lucky attendees.
I had the pleasant surprise of meeting fellow monster maker John Pinkerton at the show. Check out his great work at www.pinkertonfx.com. Thanks to the Crypticon crew and to all who stopped by to check out my display and especially those who bought the DVD!

New head finished for the museum project. Handsome, eh? Currently working on the sixth one. Click on the thumbnail pic for a larger image.

October 2008:
Currently working on charactor heads for a new museum display. I'm doing the heads, while another artist is sculpting the bodies. I'm going for a fairly realistic look with a certain level of stylization, especially with the hair. Sculpting with WED clay, over a simple oval form attached to the boards. The back of the heads will be sculpted directly on the final piece using Apoxie Clay.

Not portraits of anyone in particular, just certain "types" of charactors (Military officer, country/mountain man, fat banker/businessman,pontificator). Seven in total. Click on the pictures for larger images in a new window.

Crypticon 2008:
I will have a table at this year's Crypticon Horror Con in November. Always a great time. If your in the area, come by and see my work in person, buy a "Make Your Own Scratch Built Corpse" DVD, and watch some live sculpting. I think that I'm going to try to start and finish a creature head at my table this year!

Summer 2008:
This is the final sculpture for a werewolf puppet I did for Sam Thompson's (SBT Films) new feature film project based on his short film "There's a Werewolf in my Attic." Sam wanted this guy to be childsize, and fairly beat up and ratty looking. Here's what I came up with.
