Fall 2011:
I was hired by Paul Jones FX to do some work for the next Resident Evil film! That's right, I'll have a screen credit for Resident Evil Retribution. Cool, eh? I sculpted two zombie background masks, which, with wounds and other alterations by Paul's shop, will be made into dozens of masks for extras. I was originally slated to do more, but the production got moved up a few weeks. Paul is also likely to use my "Kissing Carl" as one of the zombies in the film. Very exciting stuff! Unfortunatly, I won't be able to post pictures until the film comes out in 2012. Here are the sculptures molded and ready to be shipped to Toronto. Thanks to Paul for including me on his sculpting team. ![]() Summer 2011: Been too long since my last update. I had the opportunity to sculpt two portraits for figures going in to an exhibit across from Ford's Theatre: Dwight D Eisenhower and Franklin D Roosevelt. This was probably the biggest challege I've had, and I wasn't sure I would be able to do it. Realistic portraits are extremely difficult to get right, and I'm very proud of the final pieces. Looking forward to more sculptural portrait work in the future! ![]() April 2010: The Photo Booth mask I recently made for designer Mark Pernice. It's gotten all over the internet, from Make magazine's blog to the Huffington Post's "funny pictures" page. Here's Mark's snowcone photo with a few shots of the sculpture before I molded it. ![]() Here's the latest piece from Christian Hanson, "Devilish." Foam filled latex 3/4 bust. Plus, the version of "Kissing Carl" that was painted for the display at Mask Fest and Monsterpalooza. Both pieces will be available in limited edition later this year. Please check back for availability, and let Christian know if you are interested in purchasing a copy. ![]() The third piece in this years set, the "Space Vampire." ![]() January 2010: I've been working on several new creature sculptures which I will be premiering at Mask Fest and Monsterpalooza at the end March and early April. Also finishing a commissioned mask of a distorted face, but I need to get approval from the client before posting pictures. September 2009: A few people have shown interest in the corpse head kits, so I put one of them (sans instructions) on eBay. The kit consists of a foam skull, hair, eyeball and teeth. Really eager to see what people will be able to do with this. The final official kits will include instructions and tips not included in the "Make Your Own Corpse" DVD. The foam skulls and other eyeballs will also be available to purchase as stand alone items. Click the picture to go to the auction page. ![]() Here are a few samples I made for the Corpse Head Kit. These are up for auction on eBay. July 2009: Photo of the figures that I helped sculpt for the new museum at Ford's Theatre. I sculpted the faces and did some work on finishing the figures: ![]() To see my face sculptures, Go To 2008 News Page New horror display prop "Kissing Carl" finished sculpture ready for molding. Painted prototype pictures and ordering info to be posted asap. Click on the thumbnails pics below for a new window with larger images. ![]() June 2009: New horror FX pieces in the works! With a great deal of inspiration from Mask-Fest and Monsterpalooza, I'm creating a new line of FX pieces. The first up is a 3/4 bust (from the ears forward) called "Kissing Carl." Nearly completed, this grossout guy will be available in several paint schemes; fresh and zombified! Should be a real gut wrencher. Please check back this Summer for final pictures and pricing. May 2009: Attending Monsterpalooza. Maybe next year I'll have a table full of new work? ![]() February 2009: We're having a sale on the "Make Your Own Scratch Built Corpse" DVD, knocking the price down 20% to $14.95. That's gotta be one of the best deals on "how to" fx DVDs out there. Currently working on finishing a couple of skull forms for the upcoming "Corpse Head Kits." These will be rigid foam skulls that can easily be gooed up using the techniques outlined in my DVD. The results will make any corpse look absolutely real. I've got some more free time over the coming months and expect to finally get these done, molded, and available very soon. Will post pictures asap. Check out the trailer to Sam Thompson's new film "Living Arrangements." Sam's the man behind the camera on my Make a Corpse DVD. I did a bunch of the fx work on this film (with lots of help from Mike Etoll), including the werewolf, a severed arm effect (thanks Crist Ballas), a couple of corpses and some props. Looks like a lot of fun. The film premieres in Minneapolis late March. Go To 2008 News Page |
